Edit events and messages
Each chat app has one editor per room. Room owners and hosts use it to choose which events post, filter them, design how each message reads and decide who is mentioned. Editing needs no agent and no credits, and every change saves as you make it. Other members can open the editor to see what an app posts.
How to open the editor
- In Room settings › Chat, select the app under Connected apps.
- On any message from the app, open the message ⋯ menu and select Edit events for <App>.
- On the app's welcome card, select Edit events.
- In the chat header, select the app marks, then the app.
The editor has three tabs: Events, People and Delivery. A live preview shows the message exactly as it will appear in the chat.
Events: choose what posts
The left side lists every event the app can post, grouped (for example Merge requests, Pipelines, Releases), each with a switch and how many times it happened last week.
- Switch an event on or off.
- Under Post when, narrow it with the app's own filters — for example only the
mainbranch, branches matchingrelease/*, or everything exceptdraft-*(a leading!excludes). Filter pickers list the values the app has actually sent. - Choose the style: Card, Compact or Digest (one message an hour).
- Check Last week — it shows how many of last week's events this rule would post.
Message: design how it reads
Open Message for an event to change its wording and parts.
- Top line and Title — edit them with field chips. Select + Field to search the event's fields and see an example value for each. Leave them empty to use the app's own words.
- Show — switch parts of the card on or off: the number, second line, summary, who did it, the source, the people involved, and each detail.
- Add a detail — add up to six extra details, each a label and a value.
- Buttons — choose which of Open in <App>, Make a task and Ask agent the card shows.
- Use this Show and Buttons for all — copy the same choices to the other events in the group.
- Reset — go back to the app's own message.
Prefer to describe it? Select Ask the agent to design this message, or Ask the agent to change it in the editor's ⋯ menu, and tell the room agent what you want in your own words.
People: who is mentioned
The People tab matches the people in the app to the room's members (Who is who). Qik matches by email or name on its own; pick a member for anyone it could not match. Logins that appear in events but are not matched yet are listed under Seen in events, not matched.
Turn on Mention the people it concerns for an event, and matched members are @mentioned and notified when an event is about them — like any @mention in chat.
Delivery: how events arrive
The Delivery tab shows how the app delivers and whether it is working:
- Webhook — events arrive the moment they happen. The tab shows whether Qik added the webhook, or the address and secret to add by hand (owners and hosts only).
- Hourly sync — Qik reads the app every hour and shows when it last read it.
- Send a test — posts the newest real event (or a sample) as a real card in the chat.
- Last events — the most recent events and whether each was posted or skipped, and why.
Name, logo and welcome message
From the app's ⋯ menu, owners and hosts can also:
- Name and logo — change how the app shows in this chat.
- Post the welcome message — tell the room again what the app posts here.
Mute an app for yourself
Any room member can hide an app's messages for themselves, without changing what the app posts for others:
- Open the ⋯ menu on one of the app's messages.
- Select Mute <App> for me.
You can also select Mute for me in the app's ⋯ menu in Room settings › Chat or in its editor. To see its messages again, select Unmute for me in that same menu.
