Connected Apps

Connected Apps lets the apps your team builds or buys work in Qik Office on a member's behalf. Company owners and admins register each app and choose the permissions it may ask for. Each member then decides whether to allow it, reads exactly what it may do, and can remove it at any time. An allowed app sees only the company it was allowed in and works within that member's room roles.

info

Connected Apps starts off. A company owner or admin turns it on in Company settings › Apps & Integrations. Turning it off stops every connected app on its next request; members' consents are kept for when it is turned back on.

How to register an app

  1. Open Company settings › Developer apps.
  2. Select Create app.
  3. Enter the App name (shown to members on the permission screen) and an optional Description.
  4. Choose the App type: Server app (can keep a secret) or Browser or mobile app (no secret).
  5. Under Redirect URIs, select Add redirect URI and enter each address (HTTPS, or http://localhost for testing).
  6. Tick the Permissions this app may ask for.
  7. Select Create app.
  8. Copy the Client ID and, for a server app, the Client secret. This is the only time you will see the secret.

How to manage a registered app

Open the app from Developer apps:

  • Settings — edit its details and permissions, then Save changes; Turn off/Turn on the app; or Delete it.
  • Credentials — Rotate secret for a server app.
  • People — see who has allowed the app and Remove access for anyone.
tip

Register a separate app for each integration, and for staging and production, so each one asks only for the permissions it needs. A company can register up to 25 apps.

How members allow and remove an app

  1. When an app asks for access, the consent screen names the app, the member and the company, and lists each permission. Sensitive permissions — reading messages, reading full transcripts, managing room members — are flagged. Select Allow.
  2. To remove an app, open Profile settings › Connected apps, find it under Third-party apps, select Remove and confirm.
