Run a task with the agent
Some tasks are better executed than tracked. Assign a task to the room's agent and the task becomes the place the run happens: the agent plans the work, executes it with the room's context, and reports back on the task itself. Its steps stream into the task as they happen, you can reply to steer it, and the status updates when it finishes.
The agent works with the role and persona your room has configured — for example the AI project manager in a project room. Running a task uses agent credits.
How to assign a task to the agent
- Open the task's options (⋯) and select Assign user, or select the task's assignee.
- Choose Assign to agent (it Runs this task automatically).
- Open the task's details. If the run has not started, select Run with agent.
While the agent works
- The task shows the current step — for example Working… — and is locked while the run is in progress.
- Each step is added to the task as it happens, so everyone in the room can see the run.
- Reply on the task to steer the agent. It continues from where it was as a follow-up turn of the same run.
When the run ends
- Agent done shows how many steps it took. Select it to see each step.
- The task's status is updated to reflect the outcome — completed, in progress or blocked.
- If the run fails, select Agent failed · retry to run it again.
note
The agent works within your company policies and your company's agent credits. See AI project manager and Agent credits.
