Lock and protect notes and pages
Finished notes and sensitive pages can be protected in three ways. Lock makes a note or page read-only for everyone. Owner lock keeps a note to the room's owners. Password protect encrypts a note or page so it opens only for someone who enters the password. Who can use each option is shown below.
| Option | Notes | Pages | Who can use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lock | Lock note | Lock page | The room's owner, an Editor who created the note, or the page's creator |
| Owner lock | Owner lock | Notes only | The room's owner |
| Password | Password protect | Password Protect Page | The room's owner, an Editor who created the note, or the page's creator |
How to lock a note
- Open the note in the room's Notes.
- Open the note's options menu (⋯). Under Protect, select Lock note.
- The note becomes read-only for everyone in the room.
Select Unlock note to allow edits again.
How to lock a page

- The page becomes read-only, and the header shows who locked it.
How to owner-lock a note
- Open the note's options menu. Under Protect, select Owner lock.
- Confirm. Other people see "This notepad is owner locked."
Select Remove owner lock to open it to the room again.
How to password-protect a note or page
- For a note, open its options menu and select Password protect under Protect. For a page, select Password Protect Page in the page header.
- Under Protect note, enter a password and confirm.
- The note or page is encrypted. Anyone opening it sees Password protected note (or page) and must Enter password.
To change or remove the password, open the same option again and choose Reset password (Replace with a new password) or Remove protection (Decrypt and unlock this note).
caution
The content is encrypted with the password. Keep the password somewhere safe; the room cannot open the note or page without it.
