Workflows & automations

What is the difference between an agent workflow and an automation?+
An agent workflow runs a company process people take part in — requests, approvals and forms routed through your org chart, one case at a time. An automation is something a single room does on its own, on a schedule or when something happens in the room.
Who can design agent workflows?+
Company owners and admins, and anyone they appoint as a workflow admin in Company settings › Company workflows. Agent workflows are available when enabled for your Office.
How does a workflow know who should approve?+
Each step has a rule such as the requester's reporting head, their head's head, a department head, whoever holds a job title, or the room's approvers, so it reads the right person from your company structure every time.
Does an automation run as soon as I describe it?+
It runs once you set it. The agent compiles your sentence into a plan you can read, including what it would do right now. Nothing runs until you select Set automation.
What do workflows and automations cost?+
Each workflow case uses 2 credits when it opens, and each email it sends uses 2. An automation of action steps uses 2 credits per completed run; one with an agent step uses an agent run each time it fires. Skipped and failed automation runs are free.
